Where did my idea originate from?

As my original idea involved a popular teenager, I wanted to go in the opposite direction as I thought that if a story ends up bad then it is more likely to end bad, so therefore would in my opinion would allow my film to feel more like a horror movie rather than a standard teen movie where the popular kids get killed off one by one.

With looking at other horror movie storylines, I was set on the idea of having an area of chance being involved, which in the case of my movie is the use of the die deciding who is going to die. I thought that this idea, although very simple can become very effective, and very gripping, as there is no way that the audience would know who is the next on the list to die, and to me this meant that the audience is not very likely to lose interest quickly, and if anything will have a number of ongoing questions that would only be answered at the end.

Two inspirational movies:

Saw

For me this movie is very inspirational for the simple fact that the characters die based on one simple thing, which is 'personal choice'.
I feel that this has vastly inspired me to obtain the movie storyline that I have because within mine, the deaths are based on one thing also, which is 'chance', and just like in saw the instigator/murderer sees the whole thing as a game, as my character feels as though a simple die roll is enough to detemine peoples fate.
The Shining

This movie has also vastly helped me to construct my storyline for the fact that within this, the character has turned crazy to the extent to trying to kill people simply because of him being isolated from society. Although in this the character has no access to society, I feel it has helped me to show that the outcome can still be the same, even if the character is within society, just like the main character in my movie.

Poster ispiration:

For my poster, I wanted to make it as simple as possible with a very powerful impact, and to do this I had to make sure that I obtained the correct balance between both the text and the image, and maintain a smooth and attractive feel.
For this I looked at various existing horror movie posters such as, 'Saw', 'The Ring', and, 'Scream 4'.

As you can see, all three of these posters have one thing in common, which is one image, so therefore one main focal point.

These inspired me and showed me that only one image is needed to make an effect poster, which is exactly what I done.
